I aquired a toad stool in a trade last night. Im keeping it under PC's and its a pale purple color. Its doing great altough im trying to figure out the placement. Its touching a green hairy mushroom and red mushroom. Is this ok? I have almost nothing but soft corals and all are basically some type of shroom from regular, hairy, rics and now the toadstool. Many of them touching each other. Its failry big probably 4" across when open completely so my main concern is it blocking light. Any thoughts?

most corals attack eachother in one way or another. since you just got it it may also take it awhile to reach full polyp extension most shrooms do ok in low light conditions, so if the light is blocked then it may be ok. you could frag it out and keep a couple of frags and sell the rest, then your frags will grow to a more desireable size.

Thanks for the info, im going to see what happens and just keep a close eye on it. I like the size of it so I dont plan on fragging unless it comes to a point that I have to.

make sure you are running carbon, if that leather decides to attack, it will be chemically and could effect your entire tank. if you see it close up, form a shiny skin and then slough it off, that is a pretty good sign that it has released some toxins.

Thanks Ace, great advice. I will watch for that, I actually run carbon all the time in Chamber 2 of my BC 29.
