My wife just bought a sony dsc h7. Neither of us knows a lick about cameras. Any comments on this model or a recommendation for a different camera? I would like to take more pictures of my tank as well as pics of my sons during their sporting events.

I (my girlfriend) have (has) a Nikon D80. I (she) take(s) great pictures with it.
Before you toss that camera, check out this article on Melev's Reef (http://www.melevsreef.com/fotos.html) and refer to the sticky in our photo forum.

It's confusing until you get the concepts down. It's a whole different can of worms when you get into DSLR/SLR.

regardless of the camera, your photos will improve if you use a tripod and the built in timer on the camera so you arent moving the camera at all when taking the pic. also, macro mode (it usually the one with the flower symbol) is great for taking pics of single corals. if your camera allows, set the shutter speed as fast as possible to get a nice clear focused pic.

I have a similar model sony and love it. Sure there are some better ones and some that are a lot worse. I am still learning how to use mine and take better shots. I have taken some great pics of my tank and the individual corals in it. I have also taken some good shots of my son at sporting events and play, along with some great outdoor shots.

This one was taken at about 250 yards across a tank
