I have 2 150 watt mh coral life and this morning one of them made a loud clicking noise when it fired up. The bulb fired and the light is acting normal. Is this my ballast going out? If I quite using the ballast can a repair and save it?
Thanks
Todd

Todd,
Some noise is normal on fireup, however it could be your capacitor that is going bad. How old is the light system? I have a watt/kilowatt hr. meter that will tell you if the light isn't pulling enough current. In my experience, I have never had a ballast go bad, only a capacitor. I have replaced several of them on my 400watt m59 over the last 5 years.

I bought the lighting used and was told is was only run for about 3 or 4 months. I have had it for about 3 or 4 months so I am guessing it is about 1 year old. I also am feeling slight vibration from the ballast that made the noise and the other ballast has no vibration at all. I hope it is only the capacitor.

What type of ballast is it? Do you live in SA? I would like to check it out.

It is the Cora Life 150 watt, the clip on version. I live in San Marcos. I could drive down your way and make a trip to the fish store.
Thanks

Keep an eye on it. Don't want a fire to break out.
