I have a coral banded shrimp in my 175G reef. I'm noticing some ich on my blue tang, so I wanted to add a cleaner shrimp (or cleaner wrasse). The problem is that I already have a coral banded shrimp in the tank and I've heard that they will kill other shrimps. I wanted to know if anyone had kept a coral banded successfully with a cleaner shrimp.

My friend Rick has a coral banded that not only ripped apart every shrimp he put in the tank but also every snail and most fish.

You could go with a Neon Gold Goby (http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=175&N=0) as they clean parasites from fish.

havent seen the goby before i suppose it could be worth a try
also to control your paracites you could install a UV sterilizer

For those that have coral banded and cleaners together, what size are they?
I used to have a this combo, but lost the cleaner. Now, my coral banded is pretty big. I want another cleaner, but I'm afraid the coral banded will do him in.

I have both in my 180, have since the tank was put up 18 months ago, my CBS is about 4.5 inches across the claws with a body about 1.5-2 inches long and the cleaner is about the same length, maybe a little shorter.

big and big i think that if you have enough room in your tank and your not trying to shove the two into a nano tank then you should be ok

Well, I went out yesterday and got a large cleaner skunk shrimp. I just checked this morning and he is still there :) I have a 175G, so I guess there is enough room that for both shrimps.
My tangs started coming close to him and leaning sideways so that he can start cleaning them. but I guess he was still not comfortable with the new tank because he just kept testing them with his tentacles but did not jump on their backs yet. Hopefully he gets over his shyness today :)
