Question as I am cleaning up and "airing" out a 150 gallon but now have to go out of town for a week or so.
Is it bad to leave a tank outside in this heat empty?
Should I fill it with water if it is going to sit outside or should I drain it completely and try to move the heavy sucker inside somewhere?

I have left tanks outside before, empty, to air out. I didn't even think about it.
What an interesting question.

i have heard (but dont know of the validity) of seals drying out if tanks are left dry for long periods of time. if it were me, i would just fill it with water where it is to be safe.

unless your leaving it in the full sun for several weeks i don't think you have anything to worry about

i had a 65 gallon tank outside in the shade for about a year andi haven't had any problems with it leaking.

If you leave it full of water, it may leave hard water spots as the water evaporates. May not be a big deal, but sometimes they're hard to get off.

Why not find a corner in your garage and not worry about the wear of the seals from the sun, or filling it up with water and get hard water spots?
