Anyone know if there is a better price out there for the same type of setup as this

I looked into those awhile back Mike. It all depends on how much 'research' work you want to do. You can pick up T5HO ballasts on the net fairly cheap now. Endcaps normally run $10 for a pair and a reflector would be around $22 each. Piecing it together may cost you close to the same as the retro kit would. It may be easier to buy the kit.

I just found a deal at Aqua Cave for $104.95 free shipping and a choice of several free items with a purchase over $175 .. might just go that route.. i just need to see about selling my 4x 110wVHO PFO setup

I actually got the same kit as Headless_donkey listed from Ed at Wolf Reef a couple of weeks ago. I ordered three, so six bulbs 3 ballasts etc. My total was less than $350.00 with shipping, oh yeah and his supplier had a temporary free TRU bulb offer when ordering. So that price included everything I needed to put my lights up, except mounting hardware.

Oh, and I'm not affiliated with Ed at all. Just a newbie looking for good deals.

I'm sure Ed is just thrilled your posting that certain piece of info publicly.:at_wits_end:

Well, if I shouldn't have I apologize. Please remove if necessary. However, since he tends to sell dry goods at cost (only really making profit on livestock (his words)), I'm just saying that for what I paid, I could only find upto 4 bulb retros anywhere else.

If I had to guess what Richard was saying it wasn't the price it was the comment on "I paid in cash so no tax".

DIYreef has it for $109

Also, reefgeek has the icecap version (I've read that they have much better reflectors) for $159

The Icecap reflectors are supposed to be better. I just bought what was in my budget, and can purchase the Icecaps seperately later. Right now, these lights are much better than what I had, and the aquarium looks great. Of course, I don't have much to compare it to, since I've only seen marine tanks at LFSs.
