Hey gang. I thought this would be insightful. List your tank size, powerhead types, and gph. Yes, include your return! I also have a question. I am buying three Korlia #4s (1200 gph) is this too much in a 75?
75g
3 Hydor Koralia #4s (hopefully by this weekend!) for a total of 3600 gph
mag5 maybe 300 gph at the head, lol.
Total 3900 gph

Well, plans are to get my 220 set up with a closed loop with a Sequence Hammerhead (5800 gph) and an Oceans Motion 4-way then a Dart (3600 gph) for my return ..... not really wanting powerheads in the tank....even though someone had some good points in another thread I started....
so (without calculating head loss) I am looking at about 9400 gph or 42.73 turnover ratio....
Initial thoughts of course...but my mind is starting to get set the more and more I think of if.
But looks like you will have much more flow ratio than I will Erik....52 gph turnover (yours)...that is **** near a typhoon...LOL...

Bio Cube 29; Oceanic return pump 215-220gph and 1 Hydor Koralia 1-400gph. So in my Nano I have approx 615-620gph

58 gallon
3-MJ 1200 (one runs during the day only) , 900 gph
1- koralia #3 , 850 gph
1- end sawed off MJ 900 230 gph
1-mag 7 return 400gph with head loss
so...2380 gph an hour so .....41.03 turnover ratio

so with no calculations of loss I have about: 25250 GPH with an estimated 84.16 turnover ratio
GOOD GOD.....guess I know where I need to go to get some swimming exercise.....that sounds like a workout..LOL....

156g (still building it)
(1) Dart return (3600gph) too lazy to figure out the head height
(1) Echotech Vortech (3000gph)
(2) Tunze 6100 (7925gph) 15,850
(1) Tunze 6060 (1585gph)
Total: 24,035 In tank only (no return): 20,435
Since I don't think a return should be considered for a good source of flow.... 130.99 turn over sans return :P
Nothing in comparison to Brian's old 150g! :w00t

75g
1 Tunze 6060 for 1,700gph
1 Seio M620 for 620GPH
Eheim return at about 900GPH
------------------------------------------------
3,220 GPH = 42.93 GPH
However if you factor in the fact that my tank only holds 30 gallons of water within it's frame it changes to 107.33 turnovers per hour.
Plans for the 380 include
Sequence Dart 3,600GPH
3x Tunze 6200 at 5,300GPH/15,900
Tunze 6212 wave box. No GPH listed. My guess would be at full running speed the same as the 6200 at
5,300 but it would only run half the time per hour so let's guess 2,500GPH.
I'm also omitting one 6200 as when they cycle only two will be running at the same time.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Est total: 16,700GPH or about 43.94 turnovers per hour.
Brian are you saying that the 6100 is rated for 7,300GPH? The Tunze site says it's closer to 3,100 and the 6300 is the 7,900 pump.

You know I just used his info when using my rates too. I looked at MarineDepot and the 6000 is not listed anymore. Did Tunze shake things up and come out with some changed models? Plus they are adding (1)'s to the end of the numbers...so 6101, 6201....

240 gallon
tunze PH - 1200 gph
4 @ seio 2600 - 2600 gph each
mag 12 return - 1200 gph

Exactly. It's neat to see everyone's GPH since seeing some of y'all tanks.

For the past 2 years I tried to avoid adding power heads in my 175G. I have 2 Iwaki return pumps with a total of about 2000GPH with the return split into 6 nozzles . I didn't have many SPSs, so that seemed fine for a while. However. I started getting red slime algae recently, so I've just added 2 Koralia 4 powerheads bringing the total GPH ro 4400GPH

125 gallon 6 foot long tank
2 Seio 2600 - 2600 gph each
The flow into the tank is through a manifold restricted into 2 eductors.
Overflow is 2 - 1 inch J tubes = 600 plus gph, depends on the reference. .
So.... over 50 times an Hour?
