I've been kicking around the idea of buying a new RO/DI system for a few months now, to replace the 'sub par' one I have been using. Instead of buying a new unit, I want to re-build mine, since the housing(s) and bracketry is still in good condition.
Basically what I have is just a 'Ebay' RO/DI unit. The membrane was replaced 6 months ago and is in good condition. The only items that aren't up to par is the flush valve, the prefilters (want to use better ones since I'm not sure of which brand(s) are in use), and the DI chamber is tiny and worthless.
What I want to order is:
* Pre-filter set. I have 3 standard chambers before the RO filter. I want to know which ones to get (sediment, carbon, carbon).
* A flush valve. The orignial one broke, so I just use a ball valve thats a pain to adjust (no precision)
* A stand alone DI chamber.
* TDS meter. Never used one :o But want one before I start filling my new tank up ;)
* A pressure gauge.
The RO/DI unit I have now has a shut off valve, like the photo below. From what I gather, if I use a check valve on the output side of the DI (with a float valve), thats how this shut off valve works? If anyone has a skematic of which way it should be hooked up, that will help. I'm not sure I even need to use it, because I feed my RO/DI unit with a garden hose. I just turn it on and off when I want to filter water for the afternoon.

Other than that, any other advice would be appreciated.
