These snails have grown from little tiny ones to this size in a couple of months. Are these bad? I have been pulling them out because after seeing about 100 little tiny ones all of my zoas went down hill fast.

Look like cerith snails to me. If they are then they are reef safe.

I as well have a ton of this little guys in my tank but have had no problems. It was the sun dial snail that I found that did some damage.

There are a couple people here who know about Zoa eating snails. They should post when they see this. If not, I know Ed at Wolf Reef can ID Zoa eating snails.

If they are sorry for your loss, but their is a good side of them. People Ebay and such will buy zoa eating snails to rid their tanks of Zoa's.

It's a Collonista Amakusaensis. Reef Safe 8)

I have the same ones in my tank and have had no problem.

Here's a great ID link that everyone should have in their favorites:

One of my favorite ID links.

Thanks for all the help. I am just really suspicious because I got some new zoas and then there were at least 100 of these little tiny guys that grew into that. I started losing zoas about this same time and I have slowly been pulling the snails out and my zoas seem to be doing better. This has been around 3 months ago. I did fresh water dips, iodine dips, and then would shake the zoas in the dip and the bottom would just be littered with these little guys.

I have the same snails invading my small reef tank. I've been taking out some everynight for the past week. They don't mess with my zoas but I find a few on one of my candy canes and puple digi. Since finding them on those two particular corals (only those two have not been doing to well), I have to remove the snails from them everynight. After a week of removing, there are still a few that hide in the rocks, the coral are slowing recovering. That's just my two cents with the experience I encountered with these snails.
