Usualy, you syphon it out during a water change. There are several ways to help with control such as a 'cleanup crew', look at www.reeftopia.com for some options. Its absolutly essential that you dont allow detritus to build up in the tank, it will result in escalated levels of ammonia and nitrate resulting in an unhealthy environment for your animals.

I got a sea hare months ago and this thing takes care of all the issues I had with nasty stuff on the bottom.

most often detritus result from low water flows towards the bottom of the tank where it settles on the substrate or in between obstacles such as rock or ornaments. depending on the situation or the amount of accumulation, a good clean up crew usually works or increasing the water flow or movement on the substrate surface will take care of the problem.
