Im shopping around for a skimmer. I would like to have one that you will not have to mess with much. But dont know what kind I should try to go for. In sump or out sump. this or that.

I owned a ASM G-2 and LOVED it. From my undestanding the Octopus makes a great skimmer that is based off of the ASM, and a little cheaper. Plus from what I hear, it is fairly easy to make modifications like the mesh mod to it also.....look it up on ReefCentral

I have a Reef O ctopus on mine and it works great....all I have to do is unscrew the top...dump it...clean it...and put it back on.

I like my ASM, never have to touch it other than to dump the stinky stuff.

They all come with wash down sprayers.
You would definitely be the envy of everyone here.

When you get PS.. Do you over size your tank?

I always say, buy big and restrict. That way you can upsize your tank later and still have equipment to run it. Sucks buying something only to find out it's a little smaller than you wanted. You can always restrict something but you can't do it the other way round.

I was thinking about the ASM G-3. And that is rated up to a 250. with is about 100 more than my tank. Or shoudl I get the 4 that would be 250g over my tank. Really dont have a fish load. Just mostly 6 or 7 fish. and sps. Which one would you think I should get.

I'd probably stick with the G-3, price could be a factor to help with that kind of choice. If the G-4 is $50-75 more than the G-3, or better yet less than $100 more than the G-2, it might be a "steal". I've noticed with the ASM line that there isn't much of a price difference between 2-3 models and then it jumps up a bit for 2 or 3 more models.
