Well I am not in a rush for them since the tanks they will go on aren't setup yet. So if your going to build more then you can sell those to to someone else.

Ok, I'm new to these things- how do they work? Is there a short, easy explanation or can someone direct me to a link to find how-to instructions, please :) I 'm pretty sure I would like one to run phosban type stuff, but I don't know how to install/use it.

Thanks,
Stacy

Stacy,
Basically what you do is put whatever type of media(i.e. phosban, purigen, carbon...) in it add a maxi-jet for flow thru the media and that's it. You can put it next to or into your sump and have it return back into the sump. Then just keeping an eye on when to change the media. I have one with carbon and will be putting Purigen in this one to wash my water, HTH.

Sounds simple enough. Since it goes into the sump and I don't have one on my 29, I guess I'll wait. I'm hoping to get my husband to build me a stand for a 55-75 so I can upgrade and use the 29 as a sump for that. As soon as I have accomplished that miracle (which I'm afraid won't happen too soon), I will definitely want one. I hope you are still making them then :) Thanks for the explanation guys!

no prob ace, i like answering questions i know the answer to. lol

hobogato
Mon, 25th Jun 2007, 10:58 PM
Since it goes into the sump
it does not have to go in the sump. you can put a maxijet in your tank that pumps water to the reactor and then put the output hose of the reactor in the top of your tank - no sump needed.

I'd like one. Do you ever run two with diffrent media? what are the uses of the types of media used?

erikharrison
Thu, 28th Jun 2007, 02:10 PM
Phosban gets rid of phosphates in your tank, and carbon will keep your water super clear and also helps with any chemical warfare from anemones/corals etc. The advantage of these being in tubes rather than using a filter sock is the fact that you do not have to have them in your sump. I imagine all types of different media could be used, filter floss, live rock, or whatever. You could get pretty creative!

Thu, 28th Jun 2007, 02:33 PM
bexar, i run a mix of phosban and carbon in mine.

Cool! is one all i need for a 125g?

hobogato
Thu, 28th Jun 2007, 09:12 PM
depends on what you want to use it for. you could use one for phosban, one for carbon, one for purigen.... there are many possibilities. i would think one that you can run a mix of phosban and carbon in would work fine.

new idea coming....

someone asked if these could be used for kalk topoff, and i dont think that would work well, but have a $120 kalk reactor in mind based on this (that is including the stirring pump). prototype construction under way today :)

How high are folks feeling these with media? Half, 3/4??

Also, seems to me that Purigen may be the way to go and use in these over carbon... thoughts?

I'll take one once you have the others made. I have a Deltec right now that I'm using for Carbon, wouldn't mind having another for another media like phosban or purigen.

Yeah, Ace you should start a business making acrylic tanks, sumps, reactors, all acrylic stuff! I think you would make a great deal of Cashflow from it in San Antonio....
