There's some sweet hotels on the beach down there as well. 140 per night for a two bedroom. It also is right on the beach, I think we are going to stay there, but we may stay in our condo, plans have changed a bit, so I have nooooo clue. Lol planning went out the window.

The art is great, and Steve is a really helpful guy. It's fun to see people that don't take everything so serious! Who started the nickname Steve? I love the fish buckets with the battery powered air stones. There is only one fatal flaw in the design...
MAAST should be on the top of the sign! ;)

As I stated yesterday at the meeting, I started with Marsh and that's where the trip originated, but we don't play second fiddle to anyone.

I used to work in the refineries. My last name is Byrd. We worked an Acid Unit one time and picture me in a solid yellow rubber suit....LMAO! Ever since then, it's been "Bigbird". I just added the 1...2...3...because of my past Anger Management Classes... :innocent

You should post the infamous pic Steve. I'm sure we could all use a good laugh! :) I could post a ton of embarassing pics that my "paparazzi" girlfriend takes. Nameably this weekend she got a picture of me licking the side of the bowl as not to let ANY hot sauce drip onto our new carpet. Of course it just looks like I'm pigging out, but it's pretty funny.

ok, so here is what I need to know:

who here has feet that are around size 15 or so? because i have fins, and snorkel gear, but because of my recent surgery (and the fact it is not healing well) I doubt my doc is gonna let me go in the water... :(

crossing fingers hoping i can.. but if not, someone is welcome to borrow my gear.

lol.. that's what i said when I saw how much fins cost in my size!!!

I have a pair of 200$ Atomic Force Flex fins and some dive shoes to fit in them. they give you insane speed in the water. before my surgery i was playing w/ them in the pool at my gym and doing laps far faster than a guy at my fitness level has any business doing.

I hope i can get in the water and use them myself.

funny thing is, my tank is 100% indo pacific, so most likely if i find anything, i won't even keep it. unless it's a sargassum.. i might keep one of those for a nano.

BIGBIRD123
Mon, 25th Jun 2007, 06:59 PM
Man I bet size 15 in those deep diving fins looks like blue whale tailfins! LMAO!

i have no idea chris,

I just thought it might be cool to collect some stuff and see what we find, as much as I love the ocean, I have seen it exactly (sadly) 5 times (counting my cruise as once) so I have no idea what the best way to do something like that would be.

Tue, 26th Jun 2007, 01:52 PM
well traditionally i think it's been lots and lots and lots of peppermint shrimp.

I wouldn't mind getting grass shrimp for critter food. mainly i am going to have fun, not so much to bring stuff back though.

BIGBIRD123
Tue, 26th Jun 2007, 02:38 PM
You can catch sargassum shrimp, gobies molly miller blennies (that are agreat addition) sgt. majors, peppermint shrimp, an ocasional angel and last year we had a girl catch an Erectus Seahorse. There are rock anemonies, porcelan crabs and stonefish. There will be plenty of people there to help with ID'ing the things not to keep.

Hope to see everyone there...

You can get the three day license but it's not much cheaper.

Here's list of what you will need:
fishing license with SW stamp
thin mesh net (Academy has some nice ones)
bucket w/battery air pump and lid
non-slip shoes
flashlight (headband type work the best)
mosquito spray
sunscreen
first-aid kit for accidents
something to transport your goodies home

This is a minimal list and you might think of other things, please feel free to add other items you thinkl is needed. Just trying to help.

In front of Texas A&M Corpus Christi there is a man made beach. I caught him scraping the sea grass with a net at night. It must have been about a month ago now.

*Check the Picture*

PS. I catch mostly grass shrimp here. My tangs love'em.

I know that spot. I need to go there sometime. I made the mistake of going to Oso Bay near the bridge. You just have to watch out for "Brown Trout" (aka poop turds from the water treatment plant).

Well, I went to the Tarpon Inn, and spoke with a few DFW members. THey said they havent seen any MAAST members there and it was around 2pm. I was just hoping to meet up. I was running late out there but was just hoping to meet a few people. My brother-in-law met up with a couple of ya at the jetti's later around 9pm and he caught about 30 pep's. Now at least we know how they do it :)
