I am about to tear my hair out with the flow issues in this tank. Ive tried to replace the stock pump with maxijet 1200 and 900 and it pumps water out quicker than it comes back into the pump's chamber and causes air suckage. Will some merciful soul come over to my house and help me??????????? I will give you something (money, soft coral frag) in return. Probably sometime Sunday would be good. I live in North Austin.
(or at least if you can't come over, give me some GOOD advice on how to fix this problem.)
I don't want to give up this tank but I am at my wit's end.

nah I'd like to just replace the stock pump. I know people have done it; Ive tried to get help on a nano forum but they were worthless. There's got to be someone else with the same tank that's successfully moded it....

hi, did you have to do anything other than just replace the pump? I tried nano-reef.com and did searches, asked questions of someone who did it and it was absolutely no help whatsoever. I asked very specific questionsa and I don't know if they just can't understand or what but they didnt answer my questions. Frustrating!

How about using a dremel tool and cutting another small overflow in the center compartment? so that way more flow into the back of the unit?

thats a good idea, I will try that. I hope I don't screw anything up. So far it looks like it doesnt flow over the top, there must be a grate/holes near the bottom of the second to the third (Pump) chamber. So would I snip some of the top divider? Lets see if I can get a pic....

I just pulled out stock pump and put Maxijet 1200 in the 3rd chamber, but again mine is a NanoCube 12gallon Deluxe.Sorry Nano-Reef.com was no help, have you tried Reefcentral.com,maybe someone there can help. They have a Nano section.Good luck, you will love the increased flow if you get things to work.

I would cut there first.... and if that doesn't work I would put a cut on the front edge like another overflow hole..... or edge...

I can probably help. This tank isn't stocked right now is it? Assuming not maybe you can just bring it over and we'll figure it out. I have a lot of stuff and I'm sure we could get it working- dremel, holesaws, bunch of plumbing parts, pvc primer/cement, tools, some extra MJ's and Mag pumps, probably anything you might need if you can bring it by. If it can't be moved then I'll come over or we'll figure something else out. I'm working on my new system today anyway and I'd be glad to help. Send me a PM we'll work out some details.

dremel the intake so it sits deeper in there and dremel the top divider where the water comes in wider so more water can flow in. MJ 900 would be what you need the 1200 may have too much heat. Also MJ vs stock is a bit more noisey (humming, buzzing) I just dont like noise. hehe GOOD LUCK!
