Please only experienced seahorse baby raisers!!

My seahorse had babies last night and I am going out of town for a week starting Friday!

I need someone to take them for that period of time. I am going to try to grab some food and a really simple setup today. When I get back, I will take them off your hands. I am in Oak Hill/SW Austin area.

If any survive, you may have one of your choice FREE when they are old enough!

He wasn't even that chubby. Didn't see this one coming.

I'm slightly FREAKING OUT! :wacko This is his first batch (and mine) and I spent a good part of an hour catching the little buggers. I don't have an official count but somewhere around 30 I think.

Male is an erectus. Not sure if he bred with the other erectus, the barb, or the reidi. I stuck some algae in with them and they are not hitching yet.

PM me and I will give you a phone #.

Please, only people with experience.

I posted there too. Hopefully someone will get in touch with me.

Right now, I have them set up in a 10 gallon tank with a small filter and am feeding them frozen cyclopeez and frozen decapsulated BBS. I think at least some of them are taking it. I couldn't find any live food today. Anyone have some spare copepods?

I wish the best for them. If they make it, let me know! We will be setting up our tank, the one that is identical to yours, for a SH tank very soon.

Erik, that is cool. I didn't realize that you and Tab had a tank like that. Great minds think alike! 8)

I think for now I am going to place them back in the main display after I cover all of the filter/powerhead intakes with soft sponges. I seriously doubt they will survive, but it is the only way I feel they will have "clean" water. Otherwise, I would have to have someone do a water change, siphon the leftover food, add Prime and feed 2 to 3 times everyday.

I bought some more macro algae that was teaming with pods and I will just have some bbs and cyclopeez mixed with the normal mysis that my pet sitter can feed the entire tank. Hopefully, the seahorses won't eat the babies and the babies will find enough to eat. I fully expect to come home to no babies. :(

All seem to still be alive! Most seem to be taking the frozen bbs! Who knew?! Keep those positive thoughts flowing.

I will certainly sell some IF by some miracle they survive. I really don't need 30 more horses. :wacko ;)

I don't have pictures right now, but not sure they would show up. They are about the size of mosquito larvae--but much cuter! :)

On a trip to a Hawaii, I saw a display tank inside they had a two gal tank with a screen that held a Sea Horse and offspring. They mentioned it was to keep them safe from the rest of the tank, water quality and so that they would be able to feed better.

I hope they do survive.
