I haven't used one so I can't really say. I've always wanted one but just didn't want to spend the $$$.

And here's another wavebox video just cause it cracks me up. Tunze meets Sprockets...

looks simple enough, the difficult part is the controller that will pulse the pump like that.

Looks like that guy finally got a good model working. I remember seeing his thread on ReefCentral about building this. If any of you 'paid' members on RC want to search for his thread go for it!

Here's what I don't understand. In all of my experiences on reefs, there is rarely wave action except at the very top of the reef - where MOST inhabitants aren't found. Waves only directly affect the area of the water column equal to the wave height. Those of you that have been swimming where there are waves will recall that diving under a breaking wave, there is no turbulence from the wave. That being said, most reefs DO have CURRENTS that can vary, but it's more like a pulse and definately not back and forth. Many of our corals come from fairly deep water. Currents can/do switch with the tides, but they change every 6 hours...

Thats what i was wondering but i think my frogspawn will still look cool doing the WaVe! So ace ur sayin you just need to find a good enough controller? Or a better pump? :skeezy

i was actually reading the thread the other day i think that using a maxijet would cause problems, however i think that if you used a tunze stream with a single controller i think it would work and stand up to the stress and although a stream w/ the controller is still a few hunderd bucks its better than 500
