ok so i have aquired a small hex tank that is maybe 2-3 gallons
so for planning im just gonna take some rock from my main and also some sand and plop that in there so for filtration since the sides are small i dont think a hang on would work. anyone out there with a good in tank reccomendation? for lighting im gonna do one of those coralife mini fixtures but last problem is what to put in it i have thought of a mantis or a shrimp and goby pair...

so what i need is
ideas for inhabatants
ideas for filtration

chris -

filter - HIATT carbon and bacteria - put it in a media bag and stick it in an azoo palm filter which is small enough to work on it.

Coralife mini fixture should be perfect.

as for residents...

how about a small anemone and some sexy shrimp?

well, I am not so sure the HIATT is always a no no w/ sps. I have some SPS in a HIATT tank and they are donig OK, not fantastic, but ok.

I think it is to powerful, the HIATT is a voracious waste muncher. I am personally going to remove about 60% of the carbon in my HIATT, and replace it w/ PH rock.

I think in a small tank, w/ an azoo palm filter your chances of it over filtering are small.

I think Azoo Palm filters are only about 12$, and the carbon and bacteria would run you around 20, so even if it doesn't work out - it's not a monster skimmer!

oh, also... www.saphireaquatics.com their nano skimmers are getting awesome reviews... but I think they might all be to large for your tank. :)
