I just put it straight in when I do it. Also save yourself some $$ and just get the reef grade or aragamax sand instead of the "live sand" that really isn't goin gto help you any other than it's been rinsed (which in my opinion is not the best way to do either since bacteria really grows quickest on the little particles). Just mix up some water ready to go and use it, if you have more left over just doa small parrtial water change to your display tank at that time if you want.

Just remember, it WILL cloud up big time - try to let it settle before running it into your tank.

yeah, I actually really hate that carib sea and other company's label some of their 'wet' products as live sand.

live sand comes out of a buddies tank, or from a place like www.IPSF.COM, www.reefermadness.us, www.garf.org (Grunge) or the like.

it's not just alive w/ bacteria, but should idealy contain microflora and fauna such as:

Bristle worms
Micro Stars
Copepods
Amphipods
Spaghetti Worms

etc... live sand is so much more than a bag of sand w/ a 6 month shelf life.

I am guessing you live in the Austin area, come to sundays mtg. No membership required and thats where all the cool people will be.

And the lesson is on refugiums.
