Newly acquired, and oh so small, bout an inch, or maybe 3/4 inch each.

I've had em for a little more than a week. Any experiences with clown gobies out there?

I kept yellow clown gobies for a while. i actually don't ever remember seeing them eat. maybe once or twice i had them for about a year, how long have you had them?

if they are indeed fairly new to your aquarium, it may take a little while to get used to your tank and feel comfortable.

Clown gobies are one of the more difficult fish to keep - believe it or not. As you've found, getting them to eat can be dicey. Once you have them eating, they are usually fine. I have 2 - one is a citroen, and it's HUGE. Eats out of my hand. In any case, if you are going to keep SPS, they aren't recommended. They perch on the corals, and kill parts of it. Try feeding live brine, if you can find it.

Mine are the Yellow Clown (Gobiodon okinawae), and the Green Broadbanded (Gobiodon histria) gobies.

From what I have read, the are called Coral Gobies because they will lay their eggs around the base of stony coral colonies. I currently have them in a 6 gallon eclipse with some little neck clams, a rather impressive tuft of dragons breath, and a few zoanthid colonies...more of a temporary situation, really. Eventually, the will move into my 29 Biocube.

Anyone have live brine I can get?

UPDATE>>> Ok, the yellow, while very skinny, is eating, albeit sparingly. He does take one or two brine or mysis, and he looks confused when I drop cyclops or rotifers near him, although that gets him in the mood for dinner quite well...I guess it is the odor. Tonight, for the first time, i saw him eat a Cyclop-eeze Micro Crab granule...actually left his sitting spot to go get it out of the column.

The Green Goby, as it turns out is a PIG!!! He eats all of the above foods with gusto, and will travel quite a ways to go get the foods, and then will return to his post as well. He has no problem eating.

I just though you folks might be interested in the update...these little guys, and my new arrow crab, are really getting me interested in the hobby again.

Cheers!

I would try some garlic additive. Our clown gobies LOVED it. Also try hatching some baby brine shrimp. All gobies like baby brine and they are super nutritious. Best of luck. Those fish are super difficult and they are very prone to ick, but man they are cool.
