I swear both my wife and I have seen our Regal Tang picking at our SPS. I know he might be nipping algae, but it looks like he is grazing on the small polyps too. Do R Tangs do this?

I had a blue regal that decided to eat zoos.

Many fish will go after the symbiotic alga in our corals. Many times it is hit or miss with our fish, as to how they will behave in a closed system.

Could the fish not be getting enough algae in its diet?

Ping,
That is possible. I probably need to hang some algae strips more often in there. Anyone know of what the normal frequency is for Tangs?

I can't keep xenia in my tank because of my regal. If I do, it's gone in a day or two. It does fine in my sump though. (The xenia, not my regal tang.)

Weird. I have several clumps of xenia in that tank and the Purple or the Hippo never touch it.
