What do I do???...My Beautiful $80 purple tang just ate a piece of superglue gel whilst I was mounting a frag....and he glued his mouth shut. He goes deep in the reef if he even sees a hint of the green net. Ya think it will work itself loose??? Oh man....this sucks.....I feel like I've performed some cruel torture on the little guy...he just sits there and wonders why he's darting at food and it isn't making it in....Absolutely horrible to watch.

Any suggestions at all??

Garrett.

Don't feel too bad, you aren't the first person here on MAAST to do this. I think Alex had a yellow tang do the same thing. I think it was decided the best thing to do was to just leave the fish alone and see if the fish could work the glue off. Capturing the fish and then trying to do it yourself might end up doing more damage to the fish's mouth.

the only thing I can say is catch him if it doesn't come loose, and razorblade/exacto it. theother concern is time, the longer its on there the more attached, unless it is trying to open its mouth.

Alex's eventually got it's mouth back opened by the next day I believe.
Sorry to say this and I mean no disrespect but everyone at work was wondering why I was laughing so hard. Like he said it's happened before and the fish eventually got it open on his own. Just keep a close look and if not you may have to try what Erik said.

Common problem. It should come off on it's own in a day or 2. What's funny - not really - is to read about the R/C guys who get it in their eyes. The solution? Tape a patch on the eye, it'll be fine in a few days.

We had a girl in technical school back in the mid 80's when I first went into the Air Force that did that. Grabbed the wrong bottle in the morning thinking it was her eye drops. Never figured out how that happened other than she hadn't put her contacts in yet. We got a good cuckle out of that as well once we found out she was alright.

BTW, never accidentally sniff the fumes either. It'll knock you out pretty good.

lol there was an tech that used to have a rowdy beard, and he was constantly gluing his fingers to it. That was uber funny. Constant yelps could be heard in the office.

My son thought it was toothpaste when he was little. I came off pretty easily and should do the same for the fish. He looked like that girl on "In Living Color" that Jaime Foxx played with his lips all pooched-out. We laughed...he cried....we cried...he laughed...got over real soon.

I hope I can laugh about this some day but despite the horrible torture to my little friend, it would also cost me $80 to replace him....That's almost up there with dropping your really nice cell phone in the lake.

no wonder this tusk i have hides everytime he sees me with the superglue! he remembers his previous owner :lol

this fish will be fine garrett, my vlamingi decided to give himself a long superglue stripe down one side the other day, it was gone by the next day, and he was no worse for the wear.

If your tank ever starts to leak......Put about $.28 worth of Duro Quick Gel on it......you'll be dead and gone before that sucker starts to leak again......come to think of it....if your house ever develops foundation problems........Naaaahhhh.

Well, last week one of my shrimp glued his legs together. I nearly died laughing, but of course a shrimp can molt...
