well somthing strange has happened to my anchor coral, one of the heads let go of the stem , and was just swirling around in the current, I scooped it up and put it on top of my LR.... now what... its alive, polyps look okay.....

It came off the lower left stem

I just plopped it on a rock, out of the flow. It's looking OK, but I don't know if it's attached yet. Normally, I frag these guys only on their hardened part.

so they reattach to the rock?

I don't know... If it doesn't attach soon, I'll glue it into place. Looks to be doing fine.

I'll glue it into place.

there is nothing to glue bill, it would be like trying to glue down a free floating mushroom. i had this happen with a torch coral once, and the detached polyp lived about two weeks before disappearing in the middle of the night. still dont know if it would have ever attached - this will be an interesting thread to follow.

heres day 4... just looked at it , and it has floated off the rock..... I found it and put it back.. the current blows it back to the mother, I wish it would crawl back on it's stem so i dont have to worry about it.

I had an entire colony of candy cane/trumpets shed from their skeletons. Seems my girl was not keeping up with her 7g and they punished her. The weird part? All of the heads are doing great and have been for over a month. Now the skeleton is showing signs of new growth as well. Little tiny blue dots are showing up.

I mean they are totally photosynthetic in as I don't feed them anything.. I would think it would live as long as it gets enough light.. i rubber banded two tips of the LR over the head to hopefully keep it where its at.
