ok , here is another mystery since the PH problem has been solved and it was just so much fun.. i have a pump that has been running fine for months that just decided to start pushing micro bubbles into the tank for no reason.. sump level is constant so thats not it,, assuming it was not cavitating, what are other potential causes.. Keep in mind it has run fine for months up till today... Can Jim D go two for two :P

Assuming it is submersed and no air is getting to it I would look at the impeller for imperfections. Build up or any small damage might cause it. The pump in my nano did the same thing, I pulled the pump out and cleaned it. While doing that I found a small crack on one of the impeller blades. Heat inside the pump might also cause it. I could be way off, but you never know.

no one wants to play my game..here are some more clues.. its drawing in a lot of air so this would most likely eliminate the positive pressure side of the return, and there is no water leaking out so it is not a large leak.. by the way i know what is wrong.. just trying to make this educational in case others experience the problem ;)

I've heard people say they thought air was being pulled in through their cords. I never could understand how it could bypass the epoxy and get all the way into the impeller.


Your autotopoff quit working and your tank is so low that air is coming in with the return water?

Mike, thanks for playing.. the Gex pump has a "wet" end and a "dry" end.. the magnet spins on the outside of the of the wet end turning the impeler inside... the autotop off was one of my first thoughts but it was fine..
next clue : you are diagnosing the correct side of the pump as evidenced from my above comments.. ar is being sucked in from the negative pressure side. these are the components,, a heavy duty bulkead, two threaded connections, a ball valve and a coupling.

Good guess John, i was all ready to change it out when i discovered the real problem
