Is it possible to run a 150 watt MHD in a 250 watt fixture or would that complicate things?? Is a custom Sea Life fixture with a screw in type bulb.

I don't remember if the sockets are the same size, they are different for the double ended version. You'll blow the bulb if using the 250 ballast.

All of the single ended bulbs fit in the same socket but they must be matched with the correct ballast.

Nope, 150 watt single ended bulbs use whats called a medium sized socket, 250 watt and up use the standard size.

Jim is correct. That was what I was thinking. They are the same from 175w and up.

By the time you buy new ballast and lamps it might be cheaper to sell this fixture and buy another?
