So I've been saving up for one of these badboyz. I really like the lighting choices. Im looking at The 12g 54w system which gets me 4.5watts per gallon and the 24g 64w system with2.6 watts per gallon. The 12g Nano cube has the same lighting as the 12g AP but the AP is much cheaper is there much difference between the brands?

With 200 $$ I would go with aquapod 24. I have one and it is doing super. Much better than my 100 gallon tank

I've got an AP12. I've been really happy with it.

the stock lighting is ok for softies. I have about 10 different kinds of shrooms and rics. 30 + types of zoos/palys. kenya tree. finger leather. GSP, xenia etc.

Unless you put in a skimmer, you'll need a very light bio load. I have a 6 line wrasse and a Randall's goby, and am thinking about taking out the goby.

If I had it all to do over again, I'd get a 20 or 30 gallon AGA with a 10 gallon sump. Much more flexible and probably cheaper to put together.

I was supposed to use my 29 with a 10g sump but what gets me is spending $260 on lighting $50 on an overflow $60 on a return pump. So Thats why I wanted an all in one system. I wonder if the little Redsea air lift 60 would fit? If I get the 12 im planning on having at least 20lbs of LR so I should be able to do 2 clowns and some sort of goby

I've checked the votes and it seems that the 24g with 64w has the highest votes.
So let me change my question. Why do you think (stock nano of your choice) is better than the rest

My daughter has one of these:

Shipping may seem high, but they REALLY package it well. Service on a lighting power supply was outstanding.

Whats the wattage on the t-5's

The T5s are only 8 watts each = 24 watts. BUT, they are WAY brighter than the 36w CF that they replaced. Her's was a 2006 model with the 36W CF, and they replaced the hood. The other BIG difference is that the T5s don't heat up the water like the CFs did.

That being said, I probably wouldn't try to grow SPS under them. Remember though, these 12g nanos are really about 8 gallons.

I hear the nano wave 9 by aquamedic is really cool. It has over 5 watts per gallon. A built in skimmer and refugium with light and its around 150 bucks. Cant beat it. Look on nanotuners.com for it.

Nice little tank. But With no fans its seems like there might be some heating issues due to the light. I read some reviews and some have issues with heat

if all you have to do is add some cooling fans it should be easy. Its a 12 volt system anyway i think

T-5 is nice ...smaller tanks heat up pretty quickly especially with heat from pumps and add ons cooler is better
