I've got a older ocenic glass tank about 650g. I get a destinct shaded "V" formed when my lights turn on. The top of my tank has three 29"x 29" holes formed on top. The "v" is from the 1"thick cross bracing. The top bracing is two layers of 1/2" thick glass with silicone in between. I want to change the bracing to eleminate the shadow areas. Any ideas.

Don't? Seriously, 650g will make a HUGE mess. I would first look at reconfiguring the lighting. What do you have now and how close to the surface are they? How deep is the tank?

If your looking for votes for and against removing the brace and reinstalling something else, my vote is do not alter your tank. Can you imagine what 650 gallons of saltwater will do to your home? Maybe add a couple of 150 MH DE / 175w MH SE to offset the shadows?

If this was an empty tank sitting in your garage, then it would one thing as you could do the modifications and test the tank's strength. As I assume this is your current tank already set up and stocked, I would have to agree with the others not to mess with it.

you could go with eurobracing, but I am not sure how that will work on your tank, you should maybe talk to oceanic, or a custom tank builder to see if what you are wanting to attempt will be advantageous.

How much cash you want for the tank instead? Trade?
