HI, i am moving to corpus and will be building a townhome. I am working on plans for a new 300 gal tank 72x32x25 (round about) I like the external overflow design with eurobracing is suffcient because it will be inwall. does anyone know a great company that does work like i described?

Ditto on Glasscages

Not in SA or Corpus but you can get it shipped or meet up with them when they are doing a show (and pick it up there).

Get ahold of Brian and John at Kingfish aquariums. Look for TheDude.

Many MAASTARDS are using the AGE brand tanks out of Dallas. Those tanks are simply gorgeous and some serious attention to detail. Totally custom and exactly what you want. Only trouble is you can't order direct.

I will be going to Houston the 31st of March to pick mine up from glasscages. That is the only delivery location in this area for a few months. Anyway you can get ahold of me if you have any questions. BTW They are charging me $80 to deliver my 240 gal to Houston, so yours should be the same if you go with them.

As Mike mentioned, Tom at AGE (www.acrylicandglassexhibits.com) does an incredible job. Look in the large tank forum on RC for invincible, makoj, naka, or thedude15810 threads to see some examples of their work.

There is a fish shop in Corpus called Tropical Fish Haven. They bulid acrylic tanks in house. It's a very impressive setup, I recommend checking them out.

Does Reef-One still make tanks and sumps in Corpus?

He did but have not seen any projects from him in a bit. Maybe the planning of his store has taken priority. He's worth a PM

thanks for all of the replies, sounds like the dallas company is my best bet for now, i live in dallas currently and i will be moving to corpus very soon, after i move it will be another four months to build our townhome. so my 70rr and 100gal sump have to go with then later i can drive back, get a truck and move the new tank down there. It sounds like i can find acrylic in corpus but not custom glass? Thanks again

Nope, just acrylic down here. TFH does not make glass tanks. I think ATM in Dallas makes both acrylic and glass. They are awesome! Probably the best work I have seen. Museum Grade tanks and such. I'm going to be starting the construction of a 300G here in the next month or so. HTH

looking forward to meeting you when i move down, sounds like that 300gal is going to be nice. I have relitives in the area by the last name of Jhonson. Thank you to everyone for the help,..i contacted Tom at AGE and he said i could get their tanks in Corpus Christi, i gess that is at the lfs there? I will be contacting them to see about pricing. I am not ruling out acrylic i am just not sure how to keep an acrlic tank looking good. I do like the strength of acrylic over glass.

just contacted tfh in corpus and they were not aware of age and didnt feel comfortable placing an order for me. I understand, sounds like they do nice acrylic though. They do deal with another company in dallas that does glass, but she said she had not heard of them doing external overflows or pvc btm. Anyway i left a message at Kingfish Aquariums.

i got in touch with John about this tank, he was very helpful and we will be working out some details, it will be a while untill this tank thread starts thanks for all your help. Casey "reef on the bay" THE FOLLOWING PICTURE IS WHERE MY TANK WILL BE(inside a house of course the only problem is we have to build it first. so i guess this could be a really long tank thread if we want lol.

I've heard mix recommendations for tanks for 300+. Alot of people go Starphire Glass, and there are some that go Acrylic. Acrylic requires some care when arrangeing rocks and cleaning the front. You can always remove minor scratches but that's a process many people rather not do. If you go glass, definately get Starphire. The clarity is really good, as close to acrylic as possible. HTH

glasscages sent me an estimate back , but they only make a tank the size i am looking for in 3/4 which makes it cost about the same as a 1/2 tank from AGE and so far AGE has the features i am looking for. Their work looks amasing. Glasscages listed something like 300.00 additional cost for the starfire front , whereas other companies told me it was not a big addtional expense. Anyway i have had good experience with both companies so far but as of now AGE looks promising.

I personally would never get a glasscages tank. From the ones that I have seen some seams had bubbles, the glass was not squared up when they began siliconing and some just look like a garage job. There are a couple that do come out looking good, but only a select few. I would chose AGE over glasscages no question.

I think you will be happy with AGE. They do some real good quality work. I used to work for AGE's parent company. I have seen some of the tanks AGE has built, and let me say wow. Next time I go to Houston, I will take some pics of display tanks they have built.

thank you for your reply , looking forward to meeting all you local C.C. and P.I. folks very soon. I would like some help on this new system so i will be posting any updates, thanks again for your replies. Casey

p.s. I will be getting a second tank from AGE for a unit next to me. This should be an interesting dual tank build.
