We are in the process of setting up a seahorse tank and were wondering what wattage of lighting to get for it.

We have a 25 gallon tall thats 18" high and were looking for T5 lights.

no real plans for any coral except possibly some zoas.

I have seen 24" T5 fixtures for sale and found some 24 watt systems but was not sure if that would be enough.

well if you want to just go with seahorses, i think you will do fine with powercompacts, though i think vho will give you better coralline algea growth and a bit better color, or even a small 75-100watt viper light would really bring out the colors of your inhabitans.. really a prefrence!!!!

We have T5 lighting on our seahorse tank and it is great. It has 2 24" 24 watts lamps with individual reflectors. It is a TEK Nova retrofit. We will never go back to power compact.
