I was taking a part an out door light and came across a photoelectric switch, which turns the lamp on at night and off during the day. Would it be possible to reverse this function and put it in line with a power head so it would turn off at night?

Why would you want to turn you power head off at night?

Lower flow, calm water at night.

I have my tank set up like that. I put the photo eye under the MH and to a Tunze 6060. It is actually part of a Tsunami eave maker kit. When the Tunze powers off the Seio unit comes on and stays on all night. I still have flow just a lot more calm until the halides come back on. As far as reversing an eye, not to sure about that.

no you cant the photo is a heat element. when the sun or light shines on it get warm and turns it on. I dont think you can do that unless you take it all part. But why when you can go buy a timer for 15 bucks to do the same.

Good point. A standard household timer would be SO much easier.

You should be able to do it.. You figure the street lights come on automaticaly and the you can get a switch to turn on the christmas lights at dusk.. Hell the lights outside my garage are "dusk to dawn" so must be a way to turn something on when the lights go off. Don't know if that's the right eye but there should be one that will work.
