Just wanted to post a few pics of my Mantis tank upgrade.
I bought an O.scyllarus from live aquaria about three years ago , and he has been in a 12g eclipse this whole time. Well I stumbled upon a tank/stand combo that closely matched the office furniture at my house.
The tank is a Oceanic 58g....I know, smasher + glass could = a disaster , but this glass is really thick for the size of the tank due to not having a center brace. I also have an acrylic lining on the bottom if/when he digs down. I really do not like acylic tanks, I always scratch them.
Anyway enough talk , here are some pics.

they can break a tank??
A full grown "peacock" can crack a 10g to 20g tank easily , but there are a ton of smaller species that you can put in a small glass tank.
here is a link to the world expert on stomapods, his name is DR. Roy Caldwell...he has his own forum on reef central
definitley check out the sticky thread called DR. Roy's list

What , your the brave one who builds large acrylic boxes and puts water in them...and places them in you living room... :lol
I would be totally shocked, and wet, oh and in troulble from the Wife if this mantis can break 1/4" glass...besides most of the cases of cracked tanks come from the mantis digging down when he/she makes his/her burrow. I have a acrylic lining on the bottom of this one.
Looks good Donny. Big improvement from that old 12g! Thanks Micheal!
