whne they started putting the fire out, the smoke increased 10fold.

Probably steam. ;)

I once lived in an apartment where the resident across the swimming pool from us burned his place. Apparently he decided to get high and cook at the same time. He nodded off and the food caught fire.

Fargon you must live in the medcntr area by the looks of the number on the firefighters helmets....most likely when you saw the smoke increase 10x was when the firefighters were venting the smoke from the apt. once opened up, which happens soon after the arrival of the fire dept., the trapped smoke is blown out with the use of power fans. Great pics...you must live right next door since you were able to get that close to the unit that was involved, usually all access is closed to the areas. Good shots...glad to hear you were not in any immidiate danger.

Glad to hear everything is ok. I lived in apartments for years and that was always my #1 fear, coming home to a burned down aparment building.

old WASHER is to blame, fire crews still cleaning up the mess. i took about 15 minutes worth of video and some pictures. i evacuated my pets before i did :)Fixed it for you. :P

Also if you look at the last pic you will see the Positive Pressure Fan sitting behind the FF on the ground. We use that to do what safeuerwehr said.
