Just ran out of my current supply. Before I bought some more, just wanted to see if there was anything considered better now. Seems to work well for me on Aiptasia, but takes several applications on the Mojanos.

I use lemon juice and a syringe from one of my Salifert test kits. So far I've had 100% success.

What kind of lemon juice, like the RealLemon green bottle? Does it affect your pH? I assume you shoot it into them thru their mouth, and about how much?

Thannks, that's a heck of a lot less expensive than Joe's Juice.

I've tried everything. Only thing that has worked in both of my tanks is a CBB.

bstreep, what's a CBB?

There's some speculation that Joe's juice may be nothing more than Calcium Hydroxide powder dissolved in lemon juice; personally I have no idea if that's true, but what I've read is that the kalk powder kills the aiptasia, and the lemon juice helps to keep the tank's ph from spiking with all the kalk powder. I would try making a paste of kalk in water, and maybe add a little vinegar if you're concerned about ph spikes.

I'd agree with bstreep about the CBB, which is a copper banded butterfly. If you get a healthy one (easier said than done) it will really decimate aiptasia. The only problem is it will also eat featherdusters and possibly some other things you don;t want to lose. Plus you really need a sizable tank to support one, and if you already have a full fish load you might not be able to add one. Probably the best solution is one of Instar's bergia nudibranchs, or several of them. Their sole diet is aiptasia. You have to make sure you don;t have anything in your tank that will eat the nudibranches, but Larry at Instar is a real expert and can tell you how to keep them.

The syringe is 1cc. So about 1/2cc. In a 120 gallon tank I never figured it affected the pH much. The one time I had to get one in my nano, I was able to take the rock out, squirt it in the hole the aptasia was in, and I never saw him again.

OK, sorry about all the questions, but is Instar a store in SA? I googled "Instar" and "Instar bergia nudibranche" but didn't come up with anything.

I've used a bunch of lemon juice before trying to get them all (20cc syringe) and didn't have any PH problems. This was in a 100 gallon with about an extra 40 gallons in the sump etc.

I had a nice aiptasia farm going for a while in the old tank.

CBB's, or even peppermint shrimp, they eat aiptasia too.

I've had no luck wih peppermint shrimp. Both of my CBBs leave everything else - except feather dusters - alone. They both eat out of my hand, and the one in the big tank rules the tank - eveh with 4-5" tangs. With that said, it took 5 to get 2... ONce you get them eating though, they are great.

I happened to see this so I should probably explain why Instar didn't produce a search result. We have not advertised INSTAR (Inland South Texas Aquaculture Reef) yet and Berghia has a "h" in there. If you google Instar Berghia, both of our nudibranch web sites will come up on top of the list. Sorry for being so obscure lately. We are very busy with construction and preparations for formal inspections of our Berghia farm with the airlines and USDA. And today is inspection day so I gotta get going.

Berghia is a good solution. Larry has great stuff.

CBB are great, and pretty, but hard to keep.

Peppermint shrimp will keep the little aptasia at bay but don't seem to attack the larger ones.

I mix Kalk and tank water, about 50/50, and feed the aptasia that I can see directly with a syringe. Between that and my shrimp it seems to work very well.
