Well if you didn't know, Xenia and GSP can sting and release small amount of toxins to fight against other corals. That happen to my White pompom xenia colony a while back and my yellow figi leather fought back and release some of it's stuff. I had to suck it all out quick, lucky I caught it in the act or some other stuff will fight. I was fixing to chant "FIght Fight Fight,", jk, lol

Just watch out for the xenias, I saw the chemical war fare first hand and I was thinking....xenia.... those ....attack... what Tha "beep"!!. No way.... but sucking out the stuff at the last second and spilling water taught me a lesson..lol . Good luck man.

If you left any of the xenia tissue behind on the rock odds are you'll have more again later. Mine would schrivel up like that and then a week later come back with a vengiance.

Not sure if this helps or not but when I had my finger leather it would periodically shrivel up shed soem tissue than open up again a few days later. It did this all the time. Check your parameters and temp. Xenia are usually good indicators of water quality.

If not known to you, and to eleborate upon what Cliff just said, leathers have a slime coat that needs to be removed periodically. Sometimes daily. Large amounts of currrent are needed to remove the waxy coating or it will trap and suffocate the coral. Sarcophyton leathers really show this. The hundreds of polyps will refuse to pop out if covered up.
