Well that's a relative question. An SPS like Japanese Bonsaii might fetch a hundred bucks a frag. A $60 green slimer could be the size of a volley ball. For a "plain" colony, I'd want it to be the size of a baseball or larger for $60.

Yup petland has acros sad but true. Under regualr Flourescents and poor water. all their 12 xenia colonies were dieng. Im sure it was plastic Jim

The tag just said acropora 59.99 and the dude didnt know much but the colony was roughly softball sized
Mike

Petland has so many different corals now that its not even funny to look at them next to each other with various anenomes mixed with clowns bengi fire fish. I secretly took some water from their system and tested it
Nitrate 60-80
Nitrite 0-1
Amonia .50-.75 something like that
Cal 120

I dont think I want it that bad, first of it comes from a horrible system second it may not be worth the size or color.

Then not worth 60 bucks... keep moving you'll find one that is.

PS stop going to petland you'll never be satisfied

$30 shipping ain't so bad if you get a large amount of corals in one order. :D

Do bad things at your school until you are expelled. Then your parents will be forced to move so you can enroll elsewhere. Might I suggest San Antonio or Austin. Both cities have decent LFS.

LOL mike! I'd do that if I wasnt the top 10 in my class :innocent

Yeah I always plan on saving $30 and forgeting about it so I can place an order, but then I see some sort of sale

You are top ten in your class because there is only about 8 people in your class :lol ! I lived in Mc Allen for 5 years and had to do freshwater because the joke of a LFS that was down there would not cut it for a saltwater tank. I thought that with SPI down there, that there would be more stores, guess not. Good luck.

Louie, are there any other reef-heads in your area that you could combine orders with? This would save you a bundle in shipping. Also, most reef related web-stores offer free shipping when you spend a specific dollar amount.

Just an idea, HTH!

Christopher:
Theres only 1 person I know that has a Saltwater tank and he isnt that much involved but I may end up asking if he would be interested in anything.
SA-DSM:
Yeah I would think with being so close to the beach that somewone would think of opening a store to provide good stuff and set up big tanks for condos and such

Petlands over here in the valley do carry Acros. They are transhipped. I did score a nice softball size colony of pink millepora once for 57 dollars. I didnt let it hit the water, else I wouldnt have bought it.
