Bulk Head?

Can a bulk head be mounted with the nut inside the tank vs. outside?

I have a 55 qt thats drilled on the bottom and i have it on the floor with the bulkheads reversed and a treaded plug on both holes its been holding for a couple of months. I put the gaskets on the bottom side of the glass not the inside. The nut will pull the gasket over itself if you put the gasket and nut on the same side.
