OW it hurt, a little bit, but thank GOD no spines broke off in my finger!
Just had to post it, even though it wasn't a big deal! :) He barely got me, and my hand was on fire, but no edema or anything. Anyone else been stung by a lion, or have any other funny stories of "when fish go bad?"

ive been hit twice by two different ones - both while cleaning and because of my error. the first time - didnt take any benadril and my arm felt like it was on fire on the inside and soaking in icewater at the same time for about four hours..2nd time, took 3 benadril and it only lasted a couple of hours.
zoa toxins are much worse :sick :blink

oh yeah, they hurt too. the bad thing about those is the outer skin of the spine sluffs off in the wound and that is probably the cyst you have - where your body tried to isolate it to get rid of it and never got rid of it.

I got stung by hobogato's rabbitfish while moving stuff from his 125 to his 240. Nothing a couple beers couldn't fix.
Speaking of beer, is Christy still brewing, Ace? :skeezy

Apparently beer IS the solution. I drank three tallboys and the pain quickly went away!!!

Hot water actually neutralizes the venom from a lionfish's sting. I've been hit bad about three times and as long as your hand goes into the hottest water you can stand, the pain is equivalent to a bee sting.

it sure made me jump! The funny thing was that I started looking up about the toxicity, which I had done prior to buying our lion, and this time I swear all I pulled up was stuff talking about paralysis, and death! Lol I siked myself out HARDCORE!

Has anyone ever actually known someone that had to go to the hospital after being stung? Not someone that just went because they wanted to just be sure, but someone that had to.

I've been hit by urchins a couple times, it basically just looked like a bee sting and went away after a couple hours.
The worst that I've ever had was when I was moving some rock around and I grabbed a big bristleworm. I think every bristle came off him and ended up in my hand. It didn't hurt at first, but when they dried I swear I could feel every one of them, kind of like I had touched fiberglass. I wrapped my hand in tape a dozen or so times and ripped it off to get them out. It was more annoying than painful really. That will teach me to watch TV as I rearrange my rock.

Ive been sliced by a yellow tang. For some reason it became really aggresive as I rearranged my rocks and that spine of his was razor sharp. He attacked me and sliced my hand open about and inch or two. It wasnt too deep but it stung pretty bad with the saltwater and got infected.

wow, never would have thought that about a yellow tang, they look so docile.

I got tagged by carefully hidden dwarf lion and he got me good. Six hours of burning pain. A urchin also got me that sucked. I had to cut open my hand to get the 17 spines out. Not a pleasent experince.

Ouch! I hate getting pricked by urchins. I stepped on a bunch of them in hawaii and had to go to the hospital for them to remove the spines. That tang was really weird, I too never wouldve thought he would ever attack my hand but it was like he was defending the rock as if it were his life.

I was baggin up my blue hippo yesterday and he sliced open two bags before I could finally get him to calm down and the third bag he was OK. Luckily it wasn't my hand.

I tried to corner a Regal Tang about the size of a half dollar.....The thing gored me ALL THE WAY THROUGH my middle finger to the left of the nail (Had to have been a good 3/4" tang....WOWW..)
