I felt left out so i went out and bought me a NanoCube 6, pretty nice looking setup. Will be getting this tank going soon but wanted to see what changes or mods can be made to it to improve this lil package. I plan on keeping a few fish or sea horses, and softies like mushrooms, rics, and zoas. LMK what you guys recommend.

Most cubes accomodate the same modifications, they just have to be proportional to the tank size. I am a fan of upgrading the flow in the tank and the lighting. In my 24 gallon NC I have three pumps and 144 watts of pc lighting. Check out www.nanocustoms.com for some additional ideas.

Nanos rock! :)

Welcome to the small side. :D

As Chris said there are tons of mods to make to these tanks. If you plan on keeping shrooms, rics, and zoas I think a stock tank will accommodate these inhabitants. I would recommend the fan upgrade, these tanks do get hot in the summer. Maybe the lights also...and switch out the stock pump and add a skimmer. That's all I would do.

My softies tank (NC 12gDX) is stock and I keep LPS, zoas, shrooms, rics, and various other softies. The only mod I made on it was adding the tape case surface skimmer. Everything is doing great.

When are you going to change you signature?

...The only mod I made on it was adding the tape case surface skimmer...

I almost forgot, on the JBJ brand NC, the tape case mod is an absolute must. This mod also helps to keep the water in the display area at a constant level regardless of the level in the rear of the cube. The tape will help to add turbulence as the water as it spills into the rear chamber. Lastly, the tape helps to skim the surface of the water in the display area.

HTH! :)

Here are the specs on this lil setup, LMK what you guys think, it already has two fans in the canapy, and it came with a surpace skimmer plate that covers the overflow. Not sure if thats the tape case you guys are talking about, and do you think i should upgrade the fans and pump?

Sweet. Those tanks are fun, Mine i yanked out all the wiring in the hood and put a new ballast that can support 2 18w pcs. Used a 12v dc power supply to power the fans on their own. Put a mini jet 606 for stronger pump. I just got to set it up :wacko . Any questions lmk.

hey mark do you have the 6gal nano?...where did you end up putting 2 pcs as there doesnt seem to be enough room for one more? do i have to do any mods to increase the pump...or will the discharge tube fit onto a larger pump? can you post pics of the underside of the hood to give me and idea of your mode..i dont mind moving the ballast to an exterior box.

I got this retro kit http://www.nanotuners.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=34 .
I just threw away the stock ballast. I got the stock reflector and made a template of holes, then drilled a spare reflector to fit 3 pc bulbs just in case. As far as the pump goes, the mini jet just is just a direct placement of stock pump, no extra fittings just maybe a ziptie. Here are the links to my pics. Hope this helps.
