right now i have 260w on a 72 bow works out to 3.6w/gal however i am thinking about getting a diffrent fixture at 760w containing 2x250hqi metal halides and 4 65w pc atinics will this cook my fish?

Not as long as you keep your water temp down. You may need to install some cooling fans or something blowing across the tank. One of those things you won't really know until you get there but cooling fans are always a good idea as prevention.

I think you will be ok cant you always cut down on some plus the sun is pretty bright

with a setup like that, i'd run 2 actnics, and 2 10K PC's. that will cut down on the time the MH will be on, saving energy, and keeping heat down.

You should be fine. My tank that you saw is a 70gal and I have (2) 250watt SE MH. I think with a couple of fans you shouldn't have a problem. Then you can keep real nice sps. :D
