Been playing around with my ESV5 Euroreef. I cleaned the impeller, what a difference. I was getting a full collection cup ( about 4 cups) every 3 days before. It was thick nasty pudding. Woohoo... Well after the cleaning I'm getting daily offerings of a full cup of thick yellow soup. Trust me it's nasty enough to pour out. I'm kind of happy with it as I know it is doing a great job of cleaning the tank as is but I'm dumping a lot of water down the drain. This effects my salinity levels. I've been dosing Kalk a lot more regularly and I dose B Ionic daily. I figure my ALK levels are up and I've heard this will make skimmers work in overtime.

So... Should I raise my skimmer higher in my sump so it sits out of the water more? Should I get another piece of 1 1/4" pipe but cut it shorter then the stock piece (the adjuster tube) so when I adjust it it sits lower? Right now it's as low as it will go.

Or.. What if I got another 2" union a bit of 2" PVC and glued the union halves at each end? I'm thinking of making the neck a little longer, say 6". Will this increase prodcutivity due to a longer contact time?

Or am I nuts?

2" union and longer foam tower. SWEET. I knew it.
