I upgraded Friday night, and I have to say... DAAAAYYAAAAMMMM!!!! This cube is BRIGHT :shades I got all the upgrades on the lighting kit, including the adjustable speed fans and the R2 moonlight upgrade, although I haven't put the moonlight kit in yet. The instructions, which I had to download, are not entirely clear, but they are enough to pretty much get you through it. Some more work needs to be done in that department.

Also, the skimmer...cool as hell. My first. I have come home two days in a row to a bowl of green water. I have it set very wet right now (unintentional), but I will get it right soon. The included Rio pump is LOUD AS HELL...so any advice on a very short, very quiet pump would be appreciated.

Anyone who has ANY of the Oceanic BioCubes, and are looking to upgrade, this is it. There is an HQI upgrade available (also listed in another thread), but it is as of yet untested on this forum.

Hello, I have been doing a lot of running around looking for a good tank. I am trying to get back into the hobby, but funds are not exactly there for what I really want right now. I keep hearing that this Oceanic BioCube is awesome. Would you recommend it? I guess my biggest concern is the amount of things that you can put into it. I am used to larger tanks, where space was never an issue. This nano thing is new to me. Could you give me some advice? Thanks

Hey, Octopus...sorry for the delay. Yes, I think the 'cube is worth it, but then I have no experience with other systems or setups.

sweet upgrades ;) you might try to find a small needlewheel pump to replace that rio, then that skimmere would probably work even better.

wetoctopus,
I just bought the bio cube 14 so I wouldn't be completely tankless while my floors are being done. It appears to be a nice setup and I like the fact that they use a true actinic for one of the lights. It will be alright for softies, mushrooms, zoos and other stuff like that. If you want to go with any SPS I'd say to go up to the aquapod 29 with the MH system, or TexasTodd has a sweet 18 gal setup for sale with a 150 hqi pendant.

Nanotuners also has a Metal Halide setup for the Bio Cube. Good stuff.

Ace- do you have any idea which pumps have needlewheels? I would love to find out.
