Well I am finally moved in enough in my new house that I can start setting up my new 100gal. So as I move along I will post some pics. I bought a 100gal stand and sump off of snakebyt on the lubbock reef club site and I am useing the sump on my reef but I am doing a little redesigning on the sump.
I am open to any ideas and sugestions. I am going with the black background since I agree with everybody else it hides alot.
Let me know what you think as I go.

The begining

my sump before the redesign with new fuge light (Home depot LOA 65w flood)

Pictures of the completed sump the bubble trap is glass and the fuge wall is plexi.(just hope it holds) Also on the floor next to the sump will be my fuge drain I am going to run it out just at the water line

You can take the LOA light apart and move your wire nuts inside the fixture. Much safer. Best of luck.

I have 2 of those lights on my 100 Gallon Macro Algea Pond Outside. They were only about $35 shipped each. I too can't wait to see how it comes along. - SoLiD

It might just be me ,but I would think that you would like to have the last baffle\skimmer quite a bit lower. This would allow for the extra water that drains in to it when your pumps are off. But I'm new to this. What do you think Ace? - SoLiD

The last baffle of the "3" bubble trap? You do not have to have the last one lower. The fuge side (with the teeth cut out) will always be a constant level. I am assuming the skimmer will be placed where the PVC rings are located? So the skimmer side will always be a constant level up to the bubble trap divider. You then can adjust how much water you want in the center section. When adding water to the sump, fill the fuge and skimmer sections first. The fill the return pump section just enough to cover the return pump (I go around 3-4" of water above it). You can keep it constant by either marking a line and topping off to it or get a auto top off that will keep that water level constant. If you keep the water shallow in the return pump section, this will allow more water to be stored when a siphon may occur. ;)

Yes I even took the time to figure up the gallons of water that will drain out of the the tank down to the over flows and if all my calculations are right, even if I have the center section full up to the baffle ,which It will prob be about 3-4 in below, It will still hold all of the water drained from the DT because hopefully with the duroso standpipes it will break syphon and should only drain about 9.73 gallons of water. I still need to drill a hole in the return so that it wont syphon then hopefully everything will be ok.

So how did you manage to squeeze that 55 gallon under there! Take a vertical support off and then re-attach it?

Magic

Nope I cut 2 1x8's to fill in the gap left in the bottom of the stand. Then I sit the 55gal on the 2 1x8's and lowered the stand down on top of the 55 I wanted to do a 75 but it would have been a little bit harder.

Well I filled the sump with water and everything looks good and is holding. I also filled the two overflows and one is holding water good and the other is leaking through the bulk head in to the pipe going into the sump, not around the glass and gasket. So I figure that it will be ok.

Well I did the fresh water test this morning and it has been running for a couple of hours and only one small pin size leak around the ball valve that formed a little drop after about 30 min. Easy fix.

Well I have powerheads, salt, 86lbs LS and about 54lbs LR (for now untill the other tank is taken down) I will post a couple pics when it clears up from the sand. I should have a total of 120lbs of LR once my 55 is taken down, and about another 40lbs of sand that I think I am going to clean completly and let it since I have 86lbs of LS and 6lbs are from my established tank and the other 80 is Caribdirect

Well I still have 86lbs of LS and 24lbs of LR and 30lbs of lace rock. One light mounted
Here are a couple of pics now that it is not as cloudy. I am fixen to go to the other house and get about 20lbs of LR from the 55 so it will look a little different. I think I am going to have LR up the sides and very little in the middle mabey a couple of caves.

Well I finally have all my live rock transfered and my 3 surviving fish 1 wild perc 1 bluegreen reef cromis and 1 PIA enginer goby. I have checked all my levels and every thing looks good amonia-0 nitrite0 nitrate-10. I am mixing some fresh saltwater so just incase something goes wrong and I have to do an emergency water change.
The tank is still a little cloudy. I will post better pic's later.

Here are a couple pics of my first two corals. The brownish one I have no clue what it is, it just came with some LR rubble. The second one I believe is Neon green zoanthids.

Your build is looking good. :)

Did you install the second light yet? It still looks dark on the right hand side.
Did you fix the leak at the ball valve? Leaks suck.

Thanks

I tried takeing some pics of my frags but apperntly my fancy digital camera does not have a macro function so they are a little blurry. I also added a pic of my two tub worms the big one that is out is about the size of the palm of my hand.
