I want to get a custom tank built, but I want it from a reputable place so it wont crack a week after I fill it up.
I found this one on RC buts its far away.
Anyway, its a 24x24x18 cool shape IMO.
Does anybody know where I can get one built?

sean, my old 120 gallon cube which you will see this saturday if you come to pick up your zoos (feel free to leave them w/ me! :) is very similar, w/ a central overflow though, and holes drilled for a closed loop.
It's an oceanview brand, you can order them through CBpets, or I am sure any of the local fish stores. my understanding is that the former employees for oceanic are also setting up shop in dallas as well, so there might be some high quality glass coming out from there as well.
my oceanview had clear silicone, shortly after i ordered it they started offering black silicone seals on their stuff. wish i had waited a bit longer, but since i am not using it right now anyway, no biggie! :)

Aquatrends in San Antonio makes decent quality glass tanks; not as nice as oceanic, but certainly passable. MAKE SURE you are exactly clear with the dimensions you want; if possible talk with the guy that actually makes the tanks. The store owner is not as easy person to deal with regarding custom orders and disputes, but if you're completely clear, with an exact drawing, etc, they'll build a decent tank.

isn't aquatrends the brand that has cracked time and again on maastards?

I also thought that aquatrends was the brand to stay away from...

I think what Matt is saying and what was said in the last thread about those tanks is, buyer beware. No no joking. I wouldn't risk it. But what I sense is that they are implying that the tanks were not used as intended and that if you specify that you want it overbuilt (or on standard for any other regular tank manufacturer) you can get a nice custom tank.

What about Ace? A nice acrylic that I could take my drill to and add as many flow points as possible? But then again it is acrylic..... Oh wait, my new 400g is acrylic. Man am I scared of scratching that thing. At least I can fit inside, water and all, and buff it out.

What about that one the folks have been trying to sell in buy/sell? I realize it might not be custom for you but I saw it when I was in SA at the shop. It was a nice tank.

I can assure you, big cubes really take a chunk out of an apartment sized room. :( you'll see when you come get your zoos. :) it's actually quite hillarious.

ALWAYS remember: Aquascape your room around your tank, not your tank to your room :lol

lol.
originally, my cube, which is 30" on every side, was going to be built into a wall unit in our living room. then my wife came home w/ a new coffee table, and we bought the tank, and jenns' eyes bulged so i immediately said 'lets put it in the spare bedroom!'....
1/6th of the room eaten up later...

I have Dan/Wolfreef/Ed's old 240 acrylic tank in the living room of an apartment. The tank is 4'X4'X2' and yes, it takes a decent chunk out of the room....

I don't know about aquatrends tanks cracking, that's one I had never heard of. I've had three tanks by them; the center brace separated on one and they fixed it under warranty. No problems with the others. As I said earlier, their quality is good, not perfect, but it's not going to fall apart. The problem is communicating with the store owner about custom specs. They drilled holes in the wrong place for my tank twice, until I talked with the actual tank maker, showed him where I wanted them, and it came out fine.
