Meeting at Aquadome?

The Aquadome in Austin is not a MAAST sponsor. However, they are a great fish store. Beautiful fish and very inexpensive. They don't have a lot of spectacular things in the way of corals, but maybe they could get some in for a meeting.

I have not run the idea past Gary (Aquadome owner) yet. I am trying to convince him to offer discounts to MAASTards, but they have their own discount program so they may not be interested ($20/yr for 10%-20% off just about everything in the store and 25% off Seachem products). However, if we can show them some great business in the form of a meeting, perhaps they will become a sponsor and/or offer a discount.

There isn't much space inside the building for a meeting, but maybe the weather would be nice enough to do it outside sometime?? They have a pond fish area and parking lot that might do in a pinch.

Anyway, post here to let me know if you would come to this meeting and/or buy things from Aquadome. Also, go ahead and list some stuff you are looking for, so I can give them an idea of what would be in demand at a meeting.

That's a nice idea if ol Gary will go for it. I've been to a few private meetings at the store in regards to having the industry suppliers give us teh schpeel as to why their products are the best. As he said at one meeting when the guy said he felt awkward telling us about the products because his info package was targeted at the LFS owner, Gary told him to lie to us the same he would to him. lol. Gary is a really nice guy.

Aquadome is one the few stores that are not sponsers that I go to. I try to stay loyal to the sponsers. I'd go, but I can't say what I would buy.

I will say that whenever I attend a meeting at a fish store, it usually is a very expesive meeting for me.

Spoke with Gary, and he said ok! He will seriously consider being a sponsor if the meeting brings in a decent amount of business. Plus, he will work out some sort of discount for the meeting.

I will send a list of popular corals, etc to Gary and he will try his best to get them in for the meeting.

I mentioned February to him because that is when I was volunteering to host. However, if we want to do it sooner, I can see what will work.

Most likely we will need to have our meeting outside, so the weather will play a large role in whether we can use the Dome. Perhaps we can take a trek over there after the meeting if the weather doesn't cooperate??

Where is that store located in Austin? I went to a LFS up there few months back but I can't remember what the name was.

Lol if it was Aqua Dome you went to you would know it. Its literally a dome... Very nice fish store. There selection of fish was one of the best i have seen. Only been there once though but im sure its that nice all the time :)

It's in south Austin, off of Ben White (Hiway 71). Exit off I 35 like your going to the airport, but turn left instead of right. And like Hotrod says, you'd know it if you've ever been in the store.
