Ok I realize that snakes might not be appropriate in the "marine photo area" but it's so cute I had to share it. There are a few pics of the one I've had for about 7 months now as well. They even get along.

Oh and someone said these things are poisonous? How poisonous? Like bee sting or RTN?

Surprisingly, no. These are not morays. Mine nibbles on found mysis shrimp.

That looks like a sea krait. If it is they are very passive but are poisonous. I believe they have neurotoxin venom. They are not prone to bting but that doesn't mean they won't so be careful. Beautiful snake though.

That is what I was thinking also. If I remember right from watching the Croc Hunter, they are one of the most poisonios snakes in the world. You are right about them being passive, but you never know.

Are they scaled? This is what sea kraits look like:

What caferacermike has looks a little different and more like an eel. I'm not an expert and I could be very wrong. Just throwing two cents in.

gorgeous....where are you finding them?

Hahaha, yeah they are eels not snakes. I was joking about them being poisonous. But they are known as snake eels. I've become a collector of the odd so these fit right in. I was holding out for a clown snake, whiptail snake or a blue ribbon eel, but then this banded came in with all those spots. It's kind of a cross between a clown snake and a plain banded so I decided it wil be a nice addition. The only bad thing I've noticed is that they can accidently knock over frags if not glued well. Since they are so long they can zig zag through several frags and sometimes will pull a frag over while straightening out.

Where am I finding them? Aquadome. The Dome has been known as a place for the odd. I get most of my cucumbers there and I also got all of my frogfish from there as well.

Mike, you must have bought the snake after I left the dome since I was there at around 3:30 and they still had it (unless they had two of them).

Cool Snake.

Yeah the dome has some weird things. They have rays, sharks, and frogfish in constantly. Nice job on the con mike. I was really worried for you there for a while. Gorgeous specimen.

If someone ever does purchase a Sea Snake, send me a PM. I will send you info on the Clinical aspects and the specific antivenin.

So he doesn't bother your other fish? We would love an eel, but I have been afraid he would eat the mandarin, shrimp, and other fishies...

We've had our eye on a snowflake because it is supposed to be one of the simplest to care for. However, we like them all.

I love the 'dome too! Cheapest price on fish anywhere...and you couldn't ask for nicer people. I finally broke down and paid $20 for a membership (no MAAST discount...I'm working on them though. :) ). I am in there too much not to have one. Plus, there is a 25% discount on Seachem so that really helps on the salt (I use the reef variety). After a couple of purchases, the membership pays for itself.

Just to clarify (only because I am bored), snakes are venomous, but not poisonous. You ask so what? Well, assuming you had no ulcers or internal cuts of any kind, you could drink snake venom with no ill effects. Venom must be injected as through a lionfish barb, snake fang, or scopion stinger. Poison must be ingested to cause harm.

That is your biology lesson 101 for the day. You may now return to your regularly scheduled program.

You make my head hurt, lol.

Jose you were less than 2 miles from my house and you didn't visit? Now I'm mad. Yeah they had 2 and I was not going to get this one but it had those spots. Had to have those spots in my tank.

Just read your comment racer, too funny. See my signature, I tend to make a lot of heads hurt including my own. I live in Georgetown and am friends with Randy, he mentions your stuff all the time. I need to come by sometime and check out your setups.
