For those that have used Starboard in their aquariums before, where did you buy it at? Was it local or online? And what is a rough estimate on the cost of materials?

Is there any other options other than Starboard (i.e. nylon perhaps)?

I just used some nylon based countertop from a local dealer, it was about $15 for a 3'x2'x1/2" chunk. It doesnt HAVE to be Starboard, just something that is considered food grade and inert.

Thanks Jim. Thats what I thought, something tough and inert. Where did you buy yours at? I am going to give Regal, Allied, and SA Plastics a call on Monday and see what they got. Or I could be lazy and order it online :skeezy

I got it cut to size from a company here in Austin called Interstate Plastics. You should be able to get it from just about anywhere.

OK went to a website I have used in the past www.usplastic.com

a 48" x 18" HDPE (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/variant.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPlastic&category%5Fna me=72&product%5Fid=25020&variant%5Fid=60074) cutting board is $40.14 shipping is $12.52

Should fit a 75g nicely. Now to see if a local place can do it cheaper. ;)

just curious what type of application would this type of material have in an aquarium?

It goes on the bottom of the tank to replace sand for people who want to go bare bottom.
