I have read several posts on Ich. I started battling it a week after I bought my 1st Tang (Dejardin). I was feeding with garlic soaked food and soon after started using a product called Ich Attack so as to not harm inverts or coral. I thought I was beating it into remiission as all of my fish seemed to be doing well and spots started to go away, everyone was out swimming and going about daily activities; like eating with gusto. I then lost my Tang yesterday followed with my Signal Goby and 6 Line this morning. Everything looked healthy and normal if I did not know i had been battling the Ich. This is my 1st major loss of any kind in my tank and I am pretty upset about it. I checked water quality and nothing is out of whack and temps are running constantly at 78 to 79 with heater. My skunk cleaner shrimp ain't cleaning a thing. Any advice on better techniques or anything I can do to prevent this next time? I am running an Oceanic biocube 29 (approx. 24 gallons) Near zero nitrites or nitrates. Zero detectable on other negatives. SG is just below 1.025. Any fish to get to help me combat this next time or possibly adding another small cleaner shrimp? Thanks to everyone for any help. JOHN

How long was the tank cycled? Not to start anything but the Oceanic Biocubes have only recently sprung up in ATX so I'm wondering if the tank cycled properly. Right about now the first Bio Cubes in Austin would be ready for fish.

The first problem i see is a tang in a 29g tank. Thats just too small of a tank for anything but the tiniest tang. If you have any fish left i would just let them hang out for a couple weeks and keep a close eye on them. The life cycle of ich is a month, you still have it in your system (some people say it never goes away). When you restock the tank in a couple weeks think about smaller fish such as clowns, gobies, six-line (good choice) chromis or firefish.

I had ich in my tank and tried all the remedies imaginable, the only that really works is to use a UV sterilizer! I put one in my main tank (not the sump) and the ich went away in a couple weeks.

The tank has been up and running for about 6 months. The Tang was extremely small (1 1/2 to 2"). I bought it with the anticipation of moving it to my larger tank within 6 months. I asked about the UV sterilizers and was told the tank was too small for it to be useful. My only living fish right now is my Blenny. Has anyone else seen a decline as rapid as this? This is my 1st tank and I am learning as I go.
