I believe I got some bubble algae from a rock I put in my tank about two weeks ago. It is starting to spread and I want to get rid of it as quickly and in the least intrusive way possible...... Any suggestions on a simple solution?
Thanks, Gary

try an emerald crab - only thing, they can be hit or miss, as it is with most "easy" natural solutions.

Perfect!!!! Cause I rent my my tank out for Emerald Crab food for $20 per hour. Looks like im pulling in the dough this weekend!! Seems as if Emerald Crabs are the solution. Question? Once the bubble algae is gone what do they feed off of? Hard and soft corals and maybe a fish now and then?

Possibly, being a crab, its an opportunist. Ive never had much luck with emeralds as far as bubble algae goes, what worked for me was a Foxface Rabbitfish along with manual removal. Sometimes Ill remove the internal fluid with a hypo so the fish can grab it easier and this way you dont distribute as many spores into the tank, not much of a concern with the smaller ones.

I've never seen my emerald messing w/ my sps or lps. But I have had zoos mysteriously disappear and have read that emeralds do like to munch zoos sometimes

I didnt exactly mean hundreds of colonies.... More like hundreds of heads. I dont want to get rid of any right now. I was selling corals for a while and found that I just didnt have the time. And, I would have people come by and think that I could sell frags for $2-$5 per frag and so on. I am in the process of starting to grow and propagate ricordeas and zoos. I hope that it happens sooner than later. As for now I have to continue growing what I have. Once I get it up and going I will have it posted on MAAST. I HOPE in about a month.
Thanks, Gary

One option for the bubble algea is to remove the rock and clean it by hand in a container of water change water. I use a small pick and toothbrush.

I have my two emeralds in a 30 gallon. I see them quite a bit. They have never messed with any of my fish or corals at all. I see them constantly grazing on the rock and they are quite interesting to watch as they use there claws very gracefully. The only thing i have seen them mess with is one of my snails snout one time. It just gave it a good pinch and went on its way. Lol i guess ill pass on renting me emeralds out to you btw... haha
