what is going on with the pump?

Have you tried taking it apart and cleaning the impeller? It is common for pumps to stop due to lime build up.

yeah i took it apart cleaned everything. The pump is dead, no vibration or anything when plugged in.

How old is the pump? Sedra gives their pumps a 2 year warrenty.

I'm not sure I bought the skimmer off of someone used, so I'm pretty sure the warranty is useless.

Okay I found a site that sells a regular sedra 3500 without the needle wheel. If I bought this and just took the needle wheel from the broken one would it work?? Or are they 2 different sedra 3500's? Please somebody help I don't want my tank to go without a skimmer too long.

I'm sure it would work but how long will a used impeller hold up in a new pump? I'd order the new pump and order a new impeller. Run the pump with the old until the new impeller arrives. Or better yet, have you called ER to see how much a complete pump would cost? Kind of the 2 birds, one stone thing.

I just took apart the pump cleaned and soaked in vinigar. Plugged it in and it started. Guess my cleaning strategies nied some tweaking. I'll see how long it lasts may give me a little time to come up with enough$$$ for a whole new pump.
