What would cause my Coraline algae on my live rock and snails to whiten? I figure it would be lack of Calcium but my levels are high.

Any help would be appreciated.

I was told one time that it might be a lack of magnesium. Kent makes a mg additive you can use. It definitely seemed to help mine.

Kyle should you add that you also seriously increased your MH lighting? Almost all of my coraline disappeared shortly after I went halide. It's making a comeback but very slowly.

Kyle, Been there before and yes, it is from the MH! The light is to intense for the existing coraline. It looks like the coraline does once a tank has been emptied and dried out, looks terrible but come back!

I have some turning white, too. I haven't changed lights, though. I switched to a maxijet 1200 for some better circulation, and the suction cup came loose one night (there's a surprise, huh?). Anyway, when I got home, there was sand everywhere. I mean, it was to the bare bottom in one spot, and sand was piled all over my liverock. I had to get in there and level it out. During that process, I guess I moved some smaller rocks and dead corals that had coraline algae growing on them. I think the light is hitting the coraline at a different angle now, but I'm only running PC lighting. Could THIS be the reason mine is turning white?
