View Full Version : My 22g Finnex nano
cpreefguy

I know, its messy lol
Its a Finnex 22g with built in filtration. It is filtered by about 15lbs of LR rubble and a Aqua C nano remora skimmer. The return pump is a MJ900 and there is also a Tunze 6025 in there for added flow. Its lit by a 150w 14k Sunpod fixture with 24hr moonlighting.
Here are a few pics:

Back to my roots...
This tank has gone through a lot of changes...
150w 14k Sunpod starting out
Next came a 4x24w T5 Tek Light
Then there was the 4x24w T5 ATI Powermodule
After that, the 6x24w T5 ATI Powermodule
Of course, the Japanese SUPAKARU 150w halide Spotlight
... Finally, Im back to a 150w 22k Sunpod!
Plans for the finnex now? I really like the Sunpod back on the tank. The 22k Giesmann bulb is a really nice blue, so I won't need actinic supplementation. I want to do a really simple, cool aquascape. Corals will be simple. Ill keep the rics I didn't sell. Maybe an SPS colony, a gorgonian, whatever I like :)
Pics to follow...

It has been a while!
Well, I bought a Deltec MCE300 from Tony (thanks!) for the tank and just hooked it up.
I forgot how sweet this skimmer was since I had it hooked up from when he let me borrow it a few months back.
Basically, I have only done one 2 gallon water change in the past 2 months. I only have 22 ricordea in there and Smoochie, my 6 line wrasse, and they are all doing well.
I did start to get some undesirable algae growth, so with the skimmer and 5g water change scheduled for tomorrow, everything should be back on track.
Thanks for reading my very interesting post :D
Also, I got a Canon 40D DSLR camera, so I need to snap some pics and post them!

I decided to change the rock work after seeing Mike's (texreefer) tank this weekend. I really liked the simplicity of his. Also, now I'm tired of looking at my ricordea, and want to start getting a few different corals in the tank. Pics to come

Ok!
I picked up 4 Apogon Leptacanthus from Drew @ The Critter shop today, as well as 5 Astrea snails to help out the one that I've had in the tank for about 4 years.
Cool little fish, yo dont even really notice that they're there until the light hits them right and their bright blue eyes glow.
Also, the Finnex won't be around much longer. I know I promised you guys that I wouldn't do anymore build threads, but I've started on a new tank. It's up to YOU whether you want me to do a build thread :D
Lets put it to a vote! yay or nay...

The clones did really well. The only problem I had was trying to get them off of the rockwork. I tried several times but didn't feel I could safely remove them with out causing a ton of damage, or killing them.
The Finnex and all livestock was sold a few days ago. I'll be starting the new tank once I move as a clean slate.

Since I'm moving from San Marvelous to San Antonio, I've already enlisted (read: bribe with pizza) help from a few friends, an truck, and a big closed trailer. I do genuinely appreciate the offer, a true friend is the one that will help you move!

LOL I understand. I guess. :)
On the bright side, I found a ring for you to give her. Nothing says love and commitment like a ring of zoanthids:
